Simon Gregson ‘ordered to leave party after dancing shirtless on furniture while going on a sworn rant’

Bouncers reportedly ordered Simon Gregson home after his on-screen daughter Alexandra Mardell’s going away party in Manchester’s Deansgate area in February.

In footage obtained by The Sun, the Coronation Street actor, 47, could be seen dancing shirtless on furniture after getting “a bit cheerful”.

Simon reportedly directed his fury at security personnel with a profanity-filled rant, who attempted to chase him from the venue.

‘He was acting pretty wild’: Corrie’s Simon Gregson allegedly kicked out of co-star’s Manchester going-away party by bouncers after dancing shirtless on furniture

One onlooker told the publication “He was the life and soul of the party, but he went a bit far and it annoyed the bar staff and bouncers at the end.”

A lip-reading expert told the Simon publication that he appeared to say “f**k” and “f**k you” to the two staff members before assuring: “I’m going down”.

The star – who plays the character Steve McDonald in the soap opera – partied with Corrie’s Katie McGlynn at the showbiz night.

She reportedly stepped between her pal and the bouncer in a bid to calm the situation, later posting a beaming photo of herself in a must-have yellow dress alongside Alexandra, who plays Emma Booker in the ITV favorite .

The source continued: “Simon was acting quite wild – but more in the sense of being in a good mood and getting carried away.

“The crowd was laughing and cheering, with lots of people cheering him on, and most people there saw the funny side. But some clubbers were also shouting abuse at him, which was unnecessary.

Alexandra’s photos from the night saw her partying with Millie Gibson (Kelly Neelan), Colson Smith (Craig Tinker), Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby), Elle Mulvaney (Amy Barlow) and Mollie Gallagher (Nina Lucas).

Representatives for Simon have been contacted for comment by MailOnline.

It comes after Alexandra revealed her character was set to leave the cobbles in dramatic fashion as she teased the Rovers bartender could be sent to jail.

Appearing on Friday’s episode of This Morning, the actress also detailed her reasons for leaving the soap, explaining that she was keen to try something new.

Following a fatal car accident in the series, Emma was shaken by guilt.

Although Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) was driving at the time of the accident, leaving a pensioner dead, Emma was supposed to teach her to drive, but she was still drunk from the night before.

Teasing that this could mean her character is imprisoned, Alexandra revealed to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that her kind-hearted alter ego couldn’t lie.

“Is she in jail? What will happen? I don’t know how she would do it.

Alexandra – who cut a sleek figure for the appearance in a chic fuchsia suit – also revealed she originally told show bosses she wanted out a year ago.

“There was no particular reason, I just thought it was my time,” she explained. “It’s a relief they don’t kill me, the door is open, which is lovely.”

Having watched the show since she was a child, Alexandra went on to say how she understands why the actors stick around for 60 or more.

Co-star William Roach has played the role of Ken Barlow since the series began in 1960.

“It’s going so fast that I still feel new, it was huge to leave, it’s like being in school, I was there long enough,” she said. “It’s good for Emma, I’m happy about it.”

She added: “Loved every storyline – finding out Steve McDonald is your dad and working with Simon Gregson!” It’s so fun to work with him, I miss him so much.

“I grew up with Corrie so it was always in my head like a dream. I auditioned for another role and didn’t get it, but I always told my mom that I would be David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) girlfriend on the show.

The star who has appeared in a play since leaving the soap also revealed that she took some significant moments from set.

She admitted: “A mug that said boss girl, I also took the pink fur coats, because why not.’
